Can’t Log Into Paypal – Login Attempt Timed Out

If you are having problems logging into Paypal today? You are not alone. We are having the same difficulty ourselves.

After spending time contacting Paypal to find out why our login attempts kept timing out they finally stated that we were not the only ones having the problem and that they are looking into it.

They will probably ask you to wait for an hour or so before attempting to log in again. We did this, but unfortunately the problem is still not resolved.

Hopefully the sharp minds at Paypal will have their system up and running properly very soon.

It’s Official – Apparently Ebay Does Not Want Digital Goods In It’s Marketplace

In our last post about Ebay we notified you of the new Ebay Error: “The item cannot be listed or modified.” when using TurboLister. Now it seems that you may get a new and related error when listing on the Ebay.com website.

The same associate of our who was having challenges with the TurboLister error has now reported that he was getting the following error when trying to list an ebook for sale to be delivered on a physical CD.

“You can not submit your listing due to the following problems”

What’s weird is that he said he couldn’t move forward with the listing after that. The sad part of this that he had just spoken with an official Ebay representative who reviewed his listing and told him everything was OK as long as he stated that the ebook was to be delivered by mail on CD.

OK….the plot thickens. Our associate contacted Ebay once again to find out what the problem was that was keeping him from completing his listing. This time he gets another Ebay rep who confers with yet another Ebay rep. When the original Ebay rep finally does come back to the phone the news is not good. It basically goes like this:

“Since the system is not letting you complete your listing you will need to placed your listing in the classified ads category. The classified ads category…OK…why? He was given the rhetoric about buyer safety…yada…yada…yada. We were just wondering why the buyer is safer if the seller uses the classified ads category than if he uses the Everything Else > Information Products category?

Well let’s take a look at this. A regular listing is 35 cents and a Classified Ad is $9.95. Well it appears that Ebay wants you to think that things will be better for everyone if you pay 28 times what a standard listing fee would be!It is certainly better for them.

Apparently the rules at Ebay change like the shifting grains of sand in a desert…so much so in fact that it seems like you get a different answer when you speak with a different Ebay employee. So the employee you get information from may not actually be incompetent…it may just be that Ebay policies may have changed in between the breakfast and lunch corporate.

As for our associate, he will become one of the many sellers of digital products who will leave Ebay. It would have been nice if he had received an email telling him of a policy change before he spent his precious little free time preparing numerous auctions only to find out that he could run them.

I’m certain that they have some smart people at Ebay, but perhaps the smartest people are not the one that make the seemingly on-the-fly policy decisions. They should certainly realize that the world is growing more and more digital by the day. Maybe Ebay doesn’t want to be a part of that world. That would seem to be contradictory since Ebay itself is a digital company and neither buys, nor sells, nor warehouses.

New Ebay Error: “The item cannot be listed or modified.”

An associate of ours who sells on Ebay has brought yet another Ebay listing error message to our attention.

As a seller you may have seen this error when trying to upload your auctions using Ebay Turbo Lister software.

Apparently you’ll may get this errorif your title of description contains the word “ebook”. He didn’t notice this until he updated his TurboLister software…which he now thinks was a mistake as it took him 10 times as long as to list a few items as it has ever taken before.

He now views updating his TurboLister software not as an upgrade or improvement, but as a way for Ebay to impose their increasingly restrictive policies on sellers.

His view is that if Ebay continues to make it increasingly difficult for honest sellers to operate that Ebay will become increasing filled with fraud.

In his experience he has seen that Ebay continually cautions against doing business with anyone who contacts you about doing transactions outside of Ebay. He states that in reality the most trouble he has had dealing with dishonest people has actually been when doing business on Ebay. This places an incredibly different perspective on how safe many people may think Ebay is.

Ebay has been in continuous decline for some time now showing that clinging to rules that are truly not in the best interest of your customers will take it’s toll on your bottom line. Ebay stock has been recently trading at some of the lowest levels in it’s history. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Huge Increase In SEO Services Spammers Using Gmail Accounts

There’s been a big increase in the number of people sending spam through Google Gmail accounts lately.

Many of them such as the ones I have listed below are offers for “white hat” SEO services including high pagerank blog links.

The funny thing is that they claim they can help you with SEO and not get you banned. If that were so good at white hat SEO why would they have to send spam to solicit business?

Some of these emails will even ask you to take certain actions to remove yourself from their mailing list. Don’t do it. If you did not sign up for their list then you should not be on their list.

Do not respond to these email messages in any for or fashion.

Online Fact: People who are truly good at what they do don’t have to spam to get business. If they were really good at SEO they could get all the traffic they could handle using legal means.
